The Templar Great Helm, also known as a barrel helm or heaume, was one of the most iconic helmets of the High Middle Ages. With its cylindrical shape and flat top, it fully enclosed the head, leaving only small openings for the eyes and mouth. This medieval helmet appeared in the late 12th century during the Crusades and was widely used by knights and heavy infantry across Europe until the 14th century.
Great Helms were often decorated with crosses, plumes, or heraldic symbols, making them not only protective gear but also an emblem of military orders such as the Knights Templar.
Magnificent Templar Helmet, handmade by Marto in full size, with a golden Templar Cross at the center. Made in Toledo.
